Sacombank partners with CMC Telecom to deploy data center infrastructure.

Sacombank and CMC Telecom have successfully organized the acceptance test of the project to deploy new data center infrastructure at CMC Data Center Tan Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City.

This is a key project to build the core foundation for Sacombank's digital transformation activities to ensure and provide a safe and reliable environment for data during the digital transformation process.

Solid digital infrastructure, the first important foundation for digital transformation

The results from the seeds of digitization that Sacombank sowed 20 years ago. Sacombank soon shaped its transformation strategy with 4 core elements: Technology infrastructure, Comprehensive digitization solutions, Digital products - Services, People and digital thinking.

The Board of Directors and the Digital Transformation Center of Sacombank are well aware that the current infrastructure needs further improvement in terms of technology and scale, meeting the increasing number of "digital customers". The bank needs a new, modern, secure infrastructure that allows for the rapid deployment of any features to serve customer needs. However, upgrading, expanding, or building a new DC is very complicated, costly, and time-consuming, while Sacombank needs to immediately start implementing new projects.

Choosing Vietnam's leading Data Center for a key technology infrastructure project

With the specific nature of the banking sector, the technology infrastructure must be stable, highly secure, and professionally operated. Sacombank prioritizes choosing a provider capable of operating according to international standards with the most stringent requirements, meeting the specifics of the Finance - Banking industry.

With a scale of 1,200 racks, CMC Telecom's Tan Thuan DC is assessed by the Uptime Institute as the most modern data center in Vietnam. Tan Thuan DC was built by CMC Telecom according to the "Bespoke DC" philosophy - dedicated to the Finance and Banking sector with the highest safety standards. This is the only DC in Vietnam to date that complies with the TVRA (Threat, Vulnerability And Risk Assessment) security standard. The TVRA standard is a strict standard stipulated by the State Bank of Singapore for DCs in Singapore and is referenced and applied by high-end DCs around the world. At the same time, CMC Telecom's Tan Thuan DC is also the first and only DC in Vietnam to possess Uptime Tier III certification for both Design and Construction. CMC Telecom is also the first unit in Vietnam to receive PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) certification, a payment security certificate specifically for the finance and banking sector.

“Designed to be the Digital HUB of the Asian region, with direct connections to international Clouds such as AWS, Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Tan Thuan DC will make it easier for Sacombank to realize the digital transformation process when placing a data center here. In addition, Tan Thuan DC can ensure the ability to expand, high-quality independent planning space for Sacombank for at least the next 3 years,” Mr. Huy shared more about the reason for choosing Tan Thuan DC to expand technology infrastructure.

To meet Sacombank's strict requirements for stability, data integrity, and security, 100% of the Data Center Expert team participating in this project must have DC design, management, and operation certificates: Accredited Operations Specialists (AOS), Accredited Tier Designer (ATS), Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP), Certified Data Centre Risk Professional (CDRP). In particular, CMC Telecom's team of experts has 2 senior personnel among the only 10 Vietnamese people who have the world's highest certification for Data Center - Certified Data Centre Expert (CDCE).

"Grading" the completion of the 60-rack project

As a Converged Service Provider (CSP), CMC Telecom has provided Sacombank with a comprehensive solution for consulting and implementing the overall DC project with a scale of 60 racks. CMC Telecom's team of experts has deployed DC infrastructure for Sacombank according to Uptime Tier III standards. In particular, the internal cable system - the backbone of the data center network infrastructure - has been designed and installed by CMC Telecom with an internal data transmission bandwidth of up to 100Gbps. The external connection between DC (Binh Duong), DC (Nam Ky Khoi Nghia), and the new Tan Thuan DC of Sacombank is also directly connected to each other by Point to Point leased line service via 2 independent cable directions. Using DWDM transmission technology with a bandwidth of up to 400Gbps, this transmission line can meet the increasing data transmission needs in Sacombank's digital transformation at present and is ready for future expansion.

After 10 weeks of implementation, during the acceptance test, Mr. Huy shared: “We are really pleased to see CMC Telecom's preparation, proactive commitment when implementing the project and accepting phase 1 this time. In terms of technology, CMC Telecom has met the technical criteria set out, and the figures on project materials also closely follow the detailed plan. With the new infrastructure in Tan Thuan DC, Sacombank is completely assured to provide more modern and smarter digital services to customers in the future.”
